Rain is turning to freezing rain this morning (Sunday) in the Quinte region.
Environment Canada has lifted its rainfall warning and issued a freezing rain warning in its place. With the temperature dropping below zero and the wind reaching up to 50 km per hour, the region is in for some nasty road conditions and potential power outages.
At 3:30 a.m. this morning a Greyhound bus slid off the road into a ditch on Highway 7 near Marmora. One person suffered minor injuries.
Drivers are reminded to drive with caution in the icy conditions.
North of Belleville, Hydro One crews restored power to over 200 residents between Thomasburg and Glen Ross this morning, after the storm knocked it out.
According to Environment Canada, freezing rain is forecast to turn into snow around 9 a.m. this morning and then stopping in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be between -1 and -7 today.
