The Belleville Senators picked up a 4-0 win in Utica Saturday night to move within a point of the division lead.
Joey Daccord turned aside all 26 shots he faced to notch his first career American Hockey League shutout. Daccord says it’s nice to get the first one out of the way.
Daccord adds that it was more important to pick up the two points against a tough team.
Max Lajoie scored the eventual game winner on the power-play in the first period. Morgan Klimchuk added a power-play marker and an assist, Joseph LaBate chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Parker Kelly found the back of the net once and Jordan Murray notched two assists.
Murray says the team has been playing well defensively.
With the win, Belleville improved to 22-13-2-1 on the season and are tied for second in the North Division with the Rochester Americans at 47 points, just one point back of the Comets for first place.
The B-Sens return to action Monday night in Manitoba against the Moose. Broadcast time on 800AM CJBQ is set for 7:50 p.m. for Deerhaven Farm and Garden.
