One of the most successful Family Physician Recruitment Programs in the province looks likely to add another much needed doctor to its roster.
On Monday, Belleville council will be asked to approve a $150,000 grant over six years to Dr. Kira Abelshohn who is now finishing residency and would be ready to start practice in Belleville at the Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre at the end of this month.
Since the recruitment program started in 2007, close to 40 family doctors and a few specialists have signed on to a commitment of at least five years of practice in Belleville.
