Belleville city council will be asked to approve the waiving of development charges for land along Station Street between Farley Avenue and Haig Road.
Owners of the 43 acres of property have asked that development charges be waived to make it easier to attract businesses to build there.
The vast majority of the property is zoned industrial, with a small commercial portion.
City staff believe that without some incentive the land could remain undeveloped for a long time due to its location.
Staff recommends that development charges be waived for a period of three years.
Development charges on a 10,000 square foot industrial building total over $24,000.
