On December 30, 2019 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced an investigation into an armed robbery which occurred approximately thirty minutes earlier behind a business on Dundas Street East in the City of Quinte West.
It is reported that the suspect approached the victim’s vehicle armed with a weapon and physically forced the victim from the vehicle.
The suspect then fled the scene driving away in the victim’s vehicle.
On December 31, 2019 the stolen vehicle was recovered and as a result the OPP Forensic Identification Unit has been engaged.
On January 8, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers of the Quinte West Detachment of the OPP, Quinte West OPP Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence on Adrian Court in the City of Quinte West.
Christopher Rose, 26 years old of Quinte West, was arrested at the location and charged with:
- Robbery with a Weapon
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon
- Weapons Dangerous
- Theft Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited
Nicole Chan, 33 years old of Quinte West, was also arrested at the location and charged with:
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation (X2 Counts)
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (X2 Counts)
Both accused have been held for bail and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on January 9, 2020 in Belleville.
