It’s the time of year Quinte area public health officials are thinking about immunization, both because of the school children but also because of some incidents of measles across Canada.
Program Manager for Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Bill Sherlock tells Quinte News there were 113 cases of measles in Canada last year, but none locally.
A large number have also been reported in the United States.
He says about 15% of students are usually overdue for their immunization shots.
Sherlock advises people to check on the records with their health care workers and keep their shots updated.
