The City of Belleville is opening its warming centre tomorrow with frigid temperatures set to return.
The warming centre at Victoria Avenue Baptist Church will be open tomorrow night from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with windchill values forecast to drop to around minus 18 or lower, overnight.
City staff are reminding anyone who may use the centre that beds and meals are not provided, but the church is a safe place to escape the cold and high winds.
Residents are also urged to check on friends or family members who may be living alone and might need assistance.
Staff will continue to monitor weather conditions through the week and will make updates to the warming centre schedule as needed.
