The trial for a Quinte West man charged with multiple sex and child porn charges got underway at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.
Tanner Neron, who was 26 at the time charges were laid, pleaded not guilty to all 14 counts against him in Superior Court.
The allegations made against Neron span a two year period from August 2015 until September 2017 when he was charged by Belleville Police. Quinte West OPP laid additional charges a month later.
Justice Patrick Hurley is presiding over the case which is expected to last two weeks.
Crown Attorney John O’Halloran today called the first of his 15 witnesses expected to testify during the trial.
Defence attorney Ruth Roberts says the charges relate to five complainants.
At the time of the occurrences, some of the complainants were 14 years of age and currently, all are under the age of 18.
Neron is charged with four counts of making sexual material available to someone under the age of 16 and four counts of communication with someone under the age of 16 for facilitation, three counts of exposure, possession of child pornography, sexual assault and seduction.
He was involved with the YMCA and Quinte West Minor Hockey Association at the time charges were laid and was terminated from both organizations.
Neron is under strict bail conditions while the trial continues.
A publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the complainants involved in the matter.
