Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan is asking people to stay off the ice as it remains quite dangerous.
Whelan says firefighters had a close call during the noon hour when a passerby in Centennial Park in Trenton thought she saw two men go through the ice.
Firefighters from Station 1 responded to the park around 12:45 p.m. and found the two men approximately 500 metres from shore.
Quinte West OPP and Hastings-Quinte paramedics were also called to the scene.
The men did not in fact fall through the ice but Whelan is asking people to stay away from ice-covered water bodies until the ice is thicker and more stable.
