Belleville Police are reminding citizens to be careful on the ice with the mild winter weather coming.
Police were called to Zwick’s Island last night around 9:30 p.m. to a report of a suspicious person wandering onto the ice.
Both police and fire arrived to check out the thickness of the ice and determined it could be dangerous.
Given the temperate weather, police are cautioning people to stay off the ice until temperatures drop.
Environment Canada is calling for temperatures above zero through Jan. 2 during the day and a low of minus three overnight.
