The Member of Provincial Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South is happy to see 2019 end on an upswing for Ontario’s economy.
MPP David Piccini says it appears his Progressive Conservative government’s focus on “insuring prosperity” is paying off.
“We’ve put together programs and tax measures to support agriculture and small business and that’s helped people across the province and in Northumberland-Peterborough South do business. Our slogan “Ontario is open for business” isn’t an empty one. Just look at the November job numbers from StatsCan. Ontario is leading just about every other part of the country in new job creation.”
Piccini is also proud of providing money to help rural downtowns prosper pointing to the ongoing revitalization of downtown Brighton.
“Health care is an ongoing focus for our government and we’ve recently created and funded Ontario Health Teams. I believe these teams will represent a “legacy piece” for our government. Health professionals of all types are involved in the teams and they will be especially helpful in rural areas and there’s a lot of rural area in Northumberland-Peterborough South.”
The MPP is especially proud of his government’s commitment to stabilizing funding at the two hospitals in the riding. “There should be no more annual financial panics at Campbellford Memorial Hospital. We will provide increased and stable funding to allow that hospital to thrive and with it the community. And same goes for Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg.”
The recently passes Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act is a piece of legislation near and dear to Piccini’s heart. “We will provide among the stiffest penalties for animal cruelty in the country and there’s a lot of interest in that issue as we learned from several great roundtables that we held in my riding.”
