A house fire this morning in Belleville isn’t considered suspicious but remains under investigation according to the Belleville Fire Department.
Firefighters from stations one and two responded to the report of a house fire on Bridge Street West shortly before 9 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews quickly extinguished the fire and one person was taken to Belleville General for the treatment of smoke inhalation.
Damage is estimated at less than $5,000.
Fire Prevention Officer Kyle Christopher says the home had smoke alarms but they were expired.
The fire department is reminding everyone to check their smoke alarms to make sure they are in working order and replaced within the manufacturers’ instructions.
