Fourteen new volunteers have just graduated from Hospice Quinte’s training program.
Hospice Quinte assists terminally ill individuals and their caregivers by offering them support and companionship.
Visiting hospice services are offered in the person’s own home, long-term care homes, retirement homes and both Belleville General and Trenton Memorial hospitals.
Executive Director Jennifer May-Anderson tells Quinte News the volunteers receive specific 10 weeks of training.
May-Anderson adds, “I personally think it takes a very special kind of person to take on the role of visiting volunteer.”
Hospice Quinte has an average of 90 volunteers visiting clients four hours a week.
