The project coordinator for Christmas Sharing says they are into their busiest week of the year.
Christmas Sharing is a program that delivers and coordinates 1,400 Christmas hampers for families and individuals in the area.
Their region stretches from Shannonville in the east to Whites Road (Quinte West/Bayside) in the west, and takes in all of Belleville (Thurlow/Belleville) to Ameliasburgh.
Pam Smith tells Quinte News that deliveries of hampers got underway Tuesday and that will continue until Saturday.
Sponsors (individuals, churches, families, organizations, or businesses) are supporting 1,000 families and individuals, while the Christmas Sharing group will support the other 400 families and individuals with gift cards for food.
Smith says the hampers include everything for a great Christmas meal on Christmas Day. That includes turkey, veggies, pasta, cereal, canned fish, pasta sauce, bread, milk, eggs, margarine, and even dessert.
The cost for a family of two to three is around $100, a family of four about $125.
Smith says although they are in delivery mode right now, they are always looking for financial support and volunteers.
