Joey Daccord stole the show yesterday afternoon in a 4-1 win for the Belleville Senators over the Toronto Marlies at the Coca-Cola Colesium.
Daccord made 34 saves on 35 shots in the game including some big saves while the B-Sens were shorthanded.
Belleville took nine penalties during a heated affair between division rivals, but Daccord and the penalty kill managed to kill off eight of the ensuing power-plays.
Daccord says he was battling to find pucks.
As for the goal scoring, Joseph LaBate and Erik Brannstrom scored in the first period for the Sens, with Daccord picking up a rare assist.
The Marlies cut the lead in half in the second period before Drake Batherson added an insurance marker in the third.
Jordan Szwarz iced the game with an empty-net goal in the dying seconds.
The B-Sens are now 16-9-1 on the season, good for third spot in the AHL’s North Division.
Belleville will return to action this Wednesday at the CAA Arena to take on the Utica Comets at 7 o’clock. You can catch the action on 800 CJBQ starting at 6:50 p.m.
