It was a little frosty tonight (Saturday) but no one cared in downtown Belleville.
The Downtown District between Bridge and Victoria Streets was packed as throngs of warmly
dressed people, young and old, enjoyed the Belleville Business Improvement Area’s Enchanted Holiday Night Market.
Close to 4,000 people registered online for the event.
The retail stores were so busy that sometimes people had to jostle for position. The restaurants were filled and the food
trucks on the street were lined up as were the outdoor vendors.
The shopping, eating, drinking and socializing were one thing but Elton Rohn got the crowd dancing in the street as he
and his bandmates reeled off a string of Elton John’s biggest hits. They were excellent.
The BDIA’s Marketing Director Kelsey Moniz couldn’t have been happier with the turnout. “This is bringing a lot of people downtown
who haven’t been here for a while and now they’re getting to see that this downtown is coming back. We’ve got a lot to offer and we’re working
to make the Downtown District a place people enjoy year round.”
