After learning that spending on Integrity Commissioner services in Belleville this year had gone significantly over budget, city council will see more detailed information at its meeting Monday.
To date, taxpayers have paid almost $36,000 for the services of a law firm acting as Integrity Commissioner, well above the $25,000 budgeted.
Dealing with the one “code of conduct” complaint against the mayor cost almost $26,000.
The cost of providing “opinions” for seven requests came close to $5,000 while general costs totalled just over $5,000.
The law firm contracted by the city charges $295 per hour.
The provincial government has mandated that municipalities hire an Integrity Commissioner.
