Cobourg Cougars 3 Wellington Dukes 1
The Wellington Dukes had their point streak halted at 16 games last night with a 3-1 loss to the Cobourg Cougars at the Duke Dome.
The loss also marks the first time the Dukes haven’t recorded at least a point on home ice this season.
Trenton, Ont. native Jacob Gilbert scored the eventual winner for the Cougars in the second period. Daniel Panetta scored the loan goal for the Dukes. In net Matt Keeley was handed just his second loss of the season making 29 saves on 32 shots. Ethan Robertson backstopped the Cougars making 25 saves on 26 shots for this third win of the season.
The Dukes next game is tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon as they host the Aurora Tigers.
Trenton Golden Hawks 5 Lindsay Muskies 3
The Trenton Golden Hawks pulled back within two points of the division leading Dukes last night with a 5-3 win in Lindsay over the Muskies.
The win marks 11 straight games with a point for the Golden Hawks going 10-0-1 in that time.
Ryan Brown, Adam Kim, Andrew Suriyuth, Cameron Gaylor and Dalton Bancroft provided the goals for the Hawks, Kyle Robinson notched two assists and Oliver Troop made 10 saves on 13 shots in net for the win.
The G-Hawks are back in action on Monday in Cobourg.
OJHL All-Star Game
Today (Saturday) is the OJHL All-Star game in Oakville. The game will be broadcasted nationally on CHCH TV.
The game will feature some local flavour.
From the Wellington Dukes; forwards Frank Vitucci, Jake Gagnon and Dylan Massie with goaltender Matt Dunsmoor and head coach Derek Smith will be present.
The Golden Hawks are sending; defenders Sam Duchesne and Julien Jacob as well as forward Griffin Fox.
Game time is set for 3 p.m.
Gannanoque Islanders 2 Napanee Raiders 1
On the Junior “C” circuit, the Napanee Raiders were defeated in regulation for the first time this season dropping a 2-1 decision to the Gannanoque Islanders in Napanee.
Austin Labelle scored the Raiders loan goal. Mitch Brown allowed two goals on 28 shots in net for the loss.
The Raiders are still a league best 20-1-1-1.
