A major subdivision proposal will be before Belleville’s Planning Committee on Monday.
A 21.2 hectare site, which is currently zoned residential, open space and environmental protection will be up for discussion.
It is located just off Farnham Road, near Scott Drive in Thurlow Ward.
The applicant, Geertsma Homes is looking to get the property rezoned, to allow a housing project on 165 lots, along with roads, laneways, parkland, and open blocks.
There would be 367 residential units built on the site if approved.
Officials with the City of Belleville say the entire property would have to be rezoned into different categories, if approved by council.
The committee is not making any decisions, just accepting the report, and allowing the public to comment.
This is not the first time this land and a housing proposal has bave up for discussion with council.
Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities had looked at putting 283 units on the land, but there was some stiff opposition from local residents. That proposal is no longer. CLICK HERE FOR MORE ON THAT STORY
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Belleville City Hall.
