The Belleville Police Service responded to 53 calls for service between November 28, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and November 29, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.
Arrested on warrants:
On November 29, 2019, at 2:40 a.m., police observed a female riding a bike on Sidney Street. Police recognized the female to be 36-year-old Melissa McGiffen of Belleville who was wanted on outstanding warrants for possession of stolen property, fraud, and breach of probation. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing on November 29.
Youth arrested for causing damage:
On November 28, 2019 at 7:10 p.m., police attended an east end group home regarding a youth who was punching holes in the walls. The youth, who had fled the residence was also breaching his conditions of release relating to a prior arrest. The youth was located a short time later, and he was arrested. A 14-year-old youth was arrested on charges of mischief and failing to comply with his recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing on November 29.
Man arrested for impaired:
On November 29, 2019 at 2:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Front Street after they observed a male driving erratically. While speaking with the male, police observed the male smelled strongly of alcohol. The male was given a roadside screening test which he failed, and he was subsequently arrested. Carmen Miller, 40, of Belleville was charged with over 80mgs. He will appear in court on December 12.
