Lower Trent Conservation has issued a water safety statement as high winds are forecast for the Quinte region.
The organization says strong winds across Lake Ontario are forecast to exceed 50 km/hr with gusts over 90 km/hr. These strong winds are forecast to result in storm surge with waves exceeding 2 metres along the north shore of Lake Ontario beginning Thursday during the day and continuing into Friday. Surge related flooding and erosion damage from high waves is possible during these periods of strong onshore winds.
Residents are reminded to pay close attention to weather forecasts for approaching storm systems with high southeast, south or southwest winds.
This Watershed Safety Statement will be in effect until (or updated before) Saturday, November 30, 2019.
