The final figures aren’t known yet but the City of Quinte West is expecting to collect around $100,000 from people staying in hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfast establishments in the city in the last half of this year.
Starting July 1, Quinte West, like Belleville before it, established a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) of 4%.
A report to the city’s Economic Development and Tourism Committee shows expected revenues of $100,000.
The committee is expected to recommend council approve an agreement to split the accommodation tax 50/50 with the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board.
