Break and enters
On November 25, 2019 at 12:05 p.m., police responded to a call of a break, enter and theft from a home in the east end of the city. The investigation noted this to have occurred some time between November 22 and November 25 while the homeowner was away.
A computer and cash, in excess of $1,000 was stolen. A scenes-of-crimes officer was also dispatched to assist in the matter. The investigation is continuing. Police responded to a second break and enter at 2:23 p.m. at a Church in the north-west end of the city. An investigation revealed unknown person(s) had made entry into the structure sometime during the past weekend. Police did not say what, or if any damage occurred, but it appeared nothing was stolen. There was physical evidence to work with at this location, and a scenes-of-crimes officer was dispatched to assist in this matter. Police responded to a third break and enter at 3:03 p.m. in the Grove Street and Pinnacle Street area. This investigation revealed unknown person(s) broke into a residence while the homeowner was away, and made off with prescription medications. Police are continuing to investigate the matter, and are asking anybody who may have information about this to contact investigating officer Cst. Christmas lights vandals
On November 25, 2019 at 3:21 p.m., police were notified of Christmas lights being destroyed at an east end home. A homeowner notified police that unknown person(s) had cut a cord attached to the light display, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on this date. Further, the same cord was cut a day prior. An investigation into both occurrences is continuing, and police are asking anyone who may have information about who may be responsible to contact investigating officer Cst. Police received a second call of Christmas lights being destroyed at a home in the Bridge Street West area at 5:03 p.m. The homeowner advised police that sometime during the day unknown person(s) destroyed strings of Christmas lights on her property. The caller further advised that this was the second act of vandalism to her light display this week, with the first occurring on Saturday. Assault charge
On November 25, 2019 at 5:12 p.m., police responded to a North Front Street business for a report of an assault. Attending officers were met by store security who had detained a young female after she was observed beating on another young male. The male did not receive any serious injuries, but the female was arrested and taken into custody. The 14-year-old female, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was processed on a single charge of assault. She was released from custody on strict undertaking conditions and a promise-to-appear in the Youth Criminal Justice Court at a later date.
Arrested on warrants
On November 26, 2019 at 2:45 a.m., police came across a wanted female on the east side of the city. An investigation revealed numerous outstanding arrest warrants were held by police. Thirty-two-year old Jennifer Michelle Murphy, of Campbellford, was arrested without incident and taken into custody on charges of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of breaching probation. Murphy has been released from custody on a promise-to-appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 19.
