For a myriad of reasons, the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board’s books appear in good shape.
At its meeting today (Monday), the board will see that its in year surplus will be $5.2 million.
At budget time it was forecast the in year surplus would be just $1.5 million.
The accumulated surplus is expected to be a little over $9.5 million.
Among the reasons given for the increased surplus were increased grants from the provincial government and a decrease of $1.4 million in teaching staff costs related to paid days and lower average salaries then originally forecast.
