Council in Belleville is working towards a solution for the Memorial Arena property in the downtown core, and the public is encouraged to participate and share their thoughts.
Over the summer, the City requested proposals for the property to help rejuvenate the city square and five finalists have been selected.
The public is welcome to attend a special council meeting tomorrow, which begins at 5 p.m. (Tuesday, November 26), where the five proposals will be presented to council.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says they didn’t want to rush this decision.
On December 9, the public will be able to provide feedback regarding the five proposals.
Those unable to attend the meeting can complete an online survey to submit their feedback.
In January 2020, council will make a decision regarding the property at 15 Market Square (Memorial Arena) and 132 Pinnacle Street (Royal Canadian Legion Branch 99).
Panciuk says the decision regarding this property is the catalyst for the Downtown Commons project.
