Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service from November 23, 2019 at 5 a.m. to November 24, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Domestic assault
On November 23, 2019 shortly after 11:00 a.m., police were called to an east end apartment with regards to a domestic where a 16-year-old male reportedly punched and kicked a female with whom he was in a relationship. Investigation resulted in the Belleville male being arrested for assault. He was taken to The Belleville Police Service where he was later released on a promise to appear with officer in charge conditions, charged with one count of assault and given a December 17 court date to answer to the charge. There were no injuries as a result of the assault and names are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim and due to stipulations under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Public intoxication
On November 24, 2019 at 2 a.m., police were called to a disturbance in the parking lot of a north end licensed establishment. The report was that a female was attempting to initiate fights with others in the parking lot. Shortly after police arrived they took into custody a 31-year-old Trenton female for public intoxication. She was later released on a provincial offence notice.
