The Belleville Police Service responded to 85 calls for service between November 19, 2019 at 5 a.m. and November 20, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Motor vehicle collisions
On November 19, 2019 at 3:54 p.m., police attended in the intersection of Church Street and Victoria Avenue in relation to a two-car collision. A 75-year-old woman was charged with failing to stop at a red light. There were no injuries.
On November 19, 2019 at 4:07 p.m., police attended on MacDonald Avenue in relation to a two-car accident. A driver was charged with having an improper class of driver’s licence. There were no injuries.
On November 19, 2019 at 4:58 p.m., police attended on Dundas Street East near Herchimer Avenue in relation to a two-car collision. An 81-year-old woman was charged with failing to yield to traffic. There were no injuries.
On November 19, 2019 at 7:32 p.m., police attended at the intersection of Bridge Street East and Herchimer Avenue in relation to a two-car collision. One of the vehicles failed to remain at the scene of the accident. This vehicle was located a short time later and a 66-year-old man was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving without insurance. He will appear in Traffic Court on December 2, 2019. There were no injuries.
Theft
On November 19, 2019 at 6:31 p.m., police responded to a north end business regarding a shoplifter. It was learned that the suspect had fled on foot from store security. At one point the suspect brandished a knife. No one was injured. An arrest warrant will be sought for a 39-year-old man for the offences of robbery and weapons dangerous.
On November 19, 2019 at 7:32 p.m., police attended at a north end business as a shoplifter had been detained by an off-duty police officer. Forty-two-year-old Paul Laroche-Davidson, of Belleville, was charged with theft under $5000. He will appear in court on December 12, 2019.
