Funeral details for Peter Smith

Celebration of Life services begin Tuesday for the late Peter Smith.

The owner of Peter Smith GM, and well known community advocate died last week at the age of 57.

Friends may visit Burke Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) and again tomorrow from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at the Ramada on Bay Bridge Road at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, with a reception to follow.

Peter Smith GM says they will also be closed so staff can attend the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, or Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

It is with heavy hearts that the staff of Peter Smith Chevrolet Buick Cadillac GMC share the loss of our Dealer Principal Peter Smith. Peter was not only our boss; he was a friend to each and everyone of us. He created a family here at the dealership, and we want to take a moment to honour the great man that he truly was. Working with Peter day in and out was a blessing, and a wonderful experience that the staff here will remember dearly. Events like our yearly hockey games, golf tournaments, wing nights and Christmas parties were full of laughs and stories that will continue to be shared for years to come.

In all honesty, there are no words that can live up to the legend that is Peter Smith. Peter will be greatly missed by friends and family alike, but the memory he left will live on.

We would like everyone to know that we continue to operate under regular business hours but will be closed on Thursday, November 21st, 2019 so our staff may attend the funeral service. We will resume regular business hours on Friday, November 22nd, 2019. Peter wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
