The Fashion for Foundation event on November 8 in Batawa raised $11,500 (net) for the TMH Foundation. These funds will support women’s health at Trenton Memorial Hospital. This event helps to raise awareness of sexual assault and this year featured Matt Richardson who presented the topic to the audience of Human Trafficking in the region.
The Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Response Program for Quinte Health Care is located at TMH. When victims present at any hospital of QHC, they will dispatch a qualified nurse to assist the victim. “Only 1 in 10 victims will disclose their assault. So, we are hoping this event lets victims of abuse know that there are resources close to home to help them”, says Wendy Warner of TMHF. Typically about 150 patients are treated through this program each year. The DVSARP team is sensitive and supportive while offering comprehensive acute health care to victims of violence.
Anyone can refer a patient to the program at any time, even if the violence was in the past by calling Nurse Clinician Kat Anastasiou at 613-969-7400 ext. 5024.
