The Belleville Professional Firefighters toy drive officially kicked off the 2019 season this morning (Thursday).
The kick-off at Lowe’s in Belleville was the perfect fit for the three organizations.
Lowe’s works with the Salvation Army at a corporate level and the local Salvation Army works with the Belleville Firefighters Toy Drive to make sure all those children in need in the area have a new toy Christmas Day.
Store Manager Jason Brooks said it only made sense for his store to get involved on a local level as well.
Store managers will be doing a gift exchange to help bring in more toys to those in need and they are going to have some fun with it.
Paul Reesor, an employee at Lowe’s who previously gave $2,000 of his earnings to the Salvation Army Kettle campaign in September, also gave $1,500 to the toy drive to help purchase toys for this year.
Reesor says he gave $1,500 because that is one dollar for every child helped last year.
Salvation Army Director of Community and Family Services, Connie Goodsell says Lowe’s has been a great supporter of theirs previously.
Toys to be donated to the toy drive can be dropped off at both Belleville fire departments (Moira Street West and Station Street), Quinte Mall, Bayview Mall and Lowe’s.
The Salvation Army Kettle campaign kicked off on November 13.
