A rally is being held tomorrow (Thursday) to protest the cuts to public education in Ontario.
Members of the local Elementary Teachers’ Federation and the Secondary School Teachers’ Federation will be at Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith’s office in Rossmore from 4-4:30 p.m.
President of ETFO Hastings-Prince Edward Dave Henderson says one of their top priorities at the central table, if the government is serious about avoiding a strike, is additional resources for special needs students, in addition to measures to address the increasing levels of violence in classrooms.
President of the local OSSTF District 29 Scott Marshall says the government is still moving forward with deep cuts to public education that will have a negative impact on the success of students in the system and set back the gains made over the past decade.
