The Belleville Senators have named their captain for the rest of the 2019/20 season, tapping 28 year-old forward Jordan Szwarz, to wear the ‘C’.
Swarz is a veteran of 440 American Hockey League games and has plenty of leadership experience, as he also captained the now defunct Portland Pirates in 2013/14 and the Providence Bruins in 2018/19.
He was also the captain of the Ontario Hockey League’s Saginaw Spirit in 2010/11.
The native of Burlington has two goals and three assists in eight games with Belleville this season, while amassing a career total of 115 goals and 150 assists.
He has appeared in 50 career NHL games with the Arizona Coyotes, Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators, totalling four goals and three assists.
Szwarz becomes the third captain in Belleville Sens history, following Mike Blunden and Erik Burgdoerfer.
Forward Morgan Klimchuk and defenceman Hubert Labrie have been named as alternate captains.
The B-Sens will play three games in three nights on the road this weekend, beginning in Syracuse on Friday night.
800 AM CJBQ’s coverage begins on Friday at 6:50 p.m., for Eastern Overhead Doors and Deerhaven Farm and Garden.
