Man sentenced after assault on Belleville Riverfront Trail
A Belleville man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail in connection with an assault on the city’s Riverfront Trail in the summer.
Denny Turcotte was arrested in late June after a 58-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial lacerations and bruising and pleaded guilty to charges including assault and breach of probation on October 16.
Along with the jail time, Turcotte was also handed 12 months probation, a 10 year weapons ban and he must submit a DNA sample to the data bank.
Woman sentenced in connection with shoplifting incident
A Belleville woman has been sentenced to ten days in jail following a shoplifting incident in the summer.
Kristine Wendling pleaded guilty to her charges last week and along with time behind bars she was sentenced to a year of probation.
The 31-year-old was facing nine charges after she was seen shoplifting from a Bell Blvd. store.
An off-duty Belleville Police officer saw the theft and suffered minor injuries in an attempt to detain the suspect.
