A group of about 50 people gathered Tuesday, to bid farewell to the WPD Wind Project in The County.
On Royal Road in Milford, protestors gathered as a crane arrived to begin the deconstruction of several turbines, that are each 480 feet high.
Some had been completely assembled, while others were in the process.
The project, approved by the former Ontario Liberal Government, was cancelled by the current Provincial Conservatives.
Many groups were against the turbines, including the PEC municipal government, the Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County, and others.
It will be several weeks of work before all the turbines are completely disassembled.
Former federal Green Party candidate Danny Celovsky was at the protest Tuesday, and says to erect the turbines, then decommission them, is a waste of $100 million dollars.
Don Ross is a Milford resident and spoke to the crowd gathered.
Resident Richard Jones says this was not an environmental decision, but bureaucratic.
