The mayor of Belleville says the city has plans for the vacant Hillcrest School if Hastings Prince Edward School board accepts an offer for $800,000 at its meeting on Monday night.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says the public will be asked for their input on how best to use the property.
Panciuk says the city doesn’t want to get into the construction business but he is sure the private sector will have ideas for some of the property.
Hillcrest School is located just east of Cannifton Road and north of College Street East.
Om Monday, the Board of Directors will vote on a staff recommendation to sell the school.
Panciuk says the city is also interested in buying the former Quinte Secondary School property.
Talks remain ongoing.
