The Wellington Dukes extended their win streak to six games last night with a dominant 7-3 win over the Mississauga Chargers.
The Dukes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period then extended the lead to four with a goal early in the second frame.
Just as the Charges started to show some life with two goals of their own, the Dukes rifled off three more unanswered goals to ice the game.
League scoring leader, Jake Gagnon, powered the Dukes offensively with a hat-trick. Ben Addison, Brandon Brazeau, Ben Woodhouse and Frank Vittuci each added a goal.
Matthew Keeley made 25 saves on 28 shots in net for the win.
The Dukes at 15-3-1 on the season sit four points ahead of the Trenton Golden Hawks in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s East Division.
The Golden Hawks are in action later tonight in Toronto against the Jr. Canadiens at 7:15.
The Dukes now have some time off. Their next game is Friday at the Duke Dome against the Cobourg Cougars.
