The owner of farm land where one of four big industrial wind turbines stand in Prince Edward County hopes a lot of wind energy supporters show up this Tuesday morning to watch the beginning of the end of the controversial White Pines wind farm.
Jen Ackerman says the gathering is about “shaming” the Doug Ford government for cancelling what was to be a nine turbine development when four were already up and ready to go.
She says the cancellation was simply stupid and wrong and has cost Ontario taxpayers 100 million dollars or more.
A crew of workers, most from from Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia has been on scene constructing giant cranes to get ready for turbine tear-down, a huge job that could take three years before everything is completely finished.
The pro-wind demonstration is set to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 1279 Royal Road in the Milford area.
Meanwhile, Ackerman also says someone got onto the turbine property and made off with an estimated $80,000 in copper cable from the site.
Ontario Provincial Police have been notified and are investigating.
