This Saturday (October 26) at the Belleville Armouries, local participants will get an opportunity to strap on the gloves and go toe-to-toe against one another in the ring.
The White Collar Boxing event is a fundraiser for a Grace Inn project in Belleville which is an emergency homeless shelter for people in Belleville who may be caught between a rock and a hard place said George Buxton who is an event organizer with Buxton Events.
The Grace Inn will provide a shelter for 21 people per night. The shelter will also have hot meals and laundry machines along with the beds.
The participants fighting have been training for months at Bulldog Boxing Club in Belleville which is also a sponsor for the event.
Buxton explains how the idea came about.
Among the 24 fighters participating is Quinte Broadcasting’s very own Sales Manager, Jody Brooker.
The main event on the card features Belleville Police officer Todd Bennett and local lawyer Pieter Kort.
Buxton adds that seeing people you know fight in the ring is way more intimate than watching professional fighters on television.
Tickets for this Saturday’s event are already sold out.
