The mayor of Quinte West is optimistic that an important infrastructure project can be finished soon.
Mayor Jim Harrison expects permits to come from Oceans and Fisheries Canada this week which would allow an underwater sewage pipe to be installed on the bottom of the mouth of the Trent River from Fraser Park to a pumping station near the FreshCo store on the other side.
It would take about a month to run the pipe across the river and Harrison said it’s important that the work be done before freeze-up to save on costs.
The sewage line will bring more capacity to the treatment system to allow for new development on Trenton’s west side.
