Both the Trenton Golden Hawks and Wellington Dukes were victorious on home ice last night.
The Golden Hawks picked up a 3-1 win over the Mississauga Chargers.
After falling behind early in the first period, Dylan McMahon, Colin Van Den Hurk and Matt Nastasiuk scored the unanswered Hawk goals to propel the team past the Chargers. Oliver Troop was in net making 28 saves on 29 shots for his third win in less than a week.
Trenton is back in action later tonight at 7:15 p.m. at Westwood Arena in Toronto taking on the Patriots.
The Dukes also battled back to pick up a decisive 6-2 win over the Stouffville Spirit.
The spirit came out with two first period goals then it was all Dukes after that scoring six unanswered goals.
Frank Vittuci powered the offense scoring a hat-trick and picking up an assist, while Daniel Panetta also notched two goals. Jacob Vreugdenhil also scored for the Dukes and Ben Woodhouse added three assists.
Matthew Dunsmoor was between the pipes making 20 saves on 22 shots for the win.
The Golden Hawks and Dukes will meet again on Friday at the Hanger in Trenton. So far this season the Dukes are 1-0-1 in the Battle of Quinte.
On the Junior “C” circuit.
The Napanee Raiders have lost their first game of the season.
The loss was a 3-2 overtime decision to the Amherstview Jets.
Brodie Maracle and Jacob Gilbert scored for the Raiders.
Bailey Maracle made 34 saves on 37 shots in net for the loss.
The Raiders are still yet to lose in regulation. They are 10-0-1 on the season.
