Quinte Red Devils weekly wrap up

Madison Excavating- Minor Bantam

The Madison Excavating Minor Bantams took to the road this past weekend to participate in the Wendy Dufton Tournament in London.

The Devils started the tournament Friday with a match up against the North Bay Trappers. Landon Wright opened up the scoring in the first on the set up from Jared Langdon and Ben Danford. The Trappers would answer back in the second to tie the game. The third would ended scoreless and the game would settle in a 1-1 tie. Mike McIvor was in net for the game.

Game two was a showdown against the home town London Jr. Knights. In a back and forth game, the first and last periods were scoreless. The Knights snuck a goal in the second but the Devils were unable to find the scoreboard. Glen McInnes was in net for the 1-0 loss.

Saturday was a turn around day for the Devils as they took two wins. Game 3 of the tournament was against the North York Rangers. While the Rangers struck first, it was the Devils who controlled the rest of the game. Beckett Ewart scored on the set up from Liam Storms and Wright. Langdon would score the game winner assisted by Danford. McIvor was in net for the 2-1 win.

Game 4 had Quinte face a familiar western team when they took on the Grey Bruce Highlanders. Braedyn Rogers scored the first, assisted by Ben Vreugdenhil and Danford. The Highlanders answered back quickly to tie it up. Two unassisted goals from Nolan Donnelly and Langdon in the second gave the Devils the lead going into the third. Donnelly would add another in the last on the set up from Gage Butcher and Thomas Kuipers to make it a 4-1 final. McInnes was between the pipes for the win.

The Devils sealed the number one seed in their pool and a spot in the Sunday morning quarter finals against the Vaughan Kings. The game was a back and forth battle with all the scoring of the game happening in the second. The Kings would take a 2-0 lead but Quinte would tie it at 2-2 before the end of the second. Scoring for the Devils were Donnelly and Butcher assisted by Kuipers and Danford. The game would be forced into OT after a scoreless third. With 3 minutes left in the extra set, it was Vaughan that got the lucky bounce to steal the game. McIvor played a strong game in the net.

The Madison Excavating Minor Bantams are back in action this week as they head to Markham to take on the Waxers on Saturday and will host the Clarington Toros on Sunday at RCAF arena.

World Elite Training- Major Atom

The World Elite Training Atom’s came out with a win for their lone game of the week!

On Saturday, the Devils faced off with the Kingston Jr. Gaels. There was no score for over half the game, but then Quinte got on the board first with a goal from Nate Rashotte (from Pierson Clute). Kingston fired right back with a goal and the game was tied 1-1 heading into the third period. Brayden Davidson started off the third period with a goal assisted by Maclean Chisholm. Next, came another goal by Rashotte and Quinte was on a roll! Ryan Foley to Chisholm brought the fourth goal of the game but Quinte wasn’t finished yet. With just over a minute left in the game Camden Sloan (from Chisholm) scored the last goal of the game. Lily Reid got the 5-1 win in net.

Quinte looks to continue their winning streak when they meet up with the Markham Waxers on Saturday in Markham, followed by the York-Simoce Express on Sunday in Madoc.

McInroy Maines Construction- Major Midget

The Quinte McInroy-Maines Midget Red Devils had a tough week, picking up only one tie in three games.

The Devils dropped a 6-5 decision to the Whitby Wildcats, followed by a 2-0 loss to the first place Kingston Junior Gaels and 3-3 tie with the Clarington Toros.

Highlights of the week:

Nate Burelle with a huge 5 point game against Whitby.

Ian Harrison with a hat trick against Clarington.

Devils of the Day were Trot Davis and Nate Burelle against Whitby, Beckett Palmer-Stephens against Kingston and Ian Harrison against Clarington.

Foley Bus Lines- Minor Midget

In the only ETA action this past Thanksgiving weekend, the Foley Bus Lines Minor Midgets welcomed the Clarington Toros to town for an afternoon contest Saturday at the CAA.

The Devils scored on the first shot of the game and never looked back leading from start to finish. The home town team had the special teams firing on all cylinders as they scored two power play and three shorthanded markers on route to a final score victory of 10-4.

Next Action…..The 04’s host a pair of top ranked hyphened teams next weekend. Saturday, Oct 19 at 3:30pm on the Mackay pad versus the first place York-Simcoe Express and then Sunday, Oct 20 at 1:30pm on the CAA pad versus the always tough Ajax-Pickering Raiders.

Bonn Law- Major Bantam

The Bonn Law Bantams climbed back into the win column in their lone game of the weekend when they hosted the Clarington Toros on Sunday at the CAA. Christopher Brydges capitalized on an early Power play (assisted by Cal Uens) to get things rolling for the Devils. Brydges then notched his second of the game on a set up from Justin Murdoch to give his team a 2 goal lead. Despite a strong effort from the Toros to get back into the game, the Devils went on to score 4 more goals en route to a 6-3 win. Also scoring for the Devils was Ethan Miedema, Carter McKee, Jack Dever and Uens. Collecting helpers on those goals was McKee (2), Dever, Uens, Liam Rampersad and Trent Williams.

Next up: The Bantams travel to Kingston Wednesday night for a mid week tilt with the Gaels. Then, they take a break from league play and travel to Notre Dame University to take part in the STX Shootout tournament this weekend.

Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Peewee

The Free Flow Petroleum Minor Peewee’s hosted twice this past week in Belleville. The first game was hosted on Thursday, when Oshawa arrived for an action-packed game. Kaden Koutroulides was first to put Quinte on the scoreboard, by a set up from Rykken Ellis and Jack Foley. Oshawa taking serious that first goal intimidation, responded with of their own 3 goals. However, the Devils were not ending the period without making some noise. With one minute left in the first period, Ryland Cunningham notched one, assisted by Koutroulides, making the score 3-2. Pure domination for the remainder of the game, as Quinte lit up the scoreboard another four times. In the second set, it was Owen Rivers who hit the twine first, with a feed from Kolby Craig and Matthew Airhart, followed by a snipe by Jacob Moore (Assist to Carson Lynch), and then Airhart (assisted by Rivers). In the third, it was Foley who would make the final score 6-3, assisted by Cooper Kelly and Noah Lesser. Cohen Bedore was in net for the win.

Saturday afternoon, Greater Kingston Jr. Gaels, joined the Minor Peewees for Quinte Day. Their second match up of the season, the Gaels came in looking to prove themselves. Showing some relentless effort, Kingston gave the team a challenge and the Devils fell short in their attempt to catch up. The final score was 3-2, for the visitors. Minor Peewee goals went to: Airhart (assisted by Craig and Rivers) and Cunningham (set up by Foley and Koutroulides). Katste Brant stood tall between the pipes for the game. Next weekend the Free Flow Minor Peewees are heading to Toronto for the Tom Wilson Peewee Classic. Let’s go boys!!!
