Drivers in rural parts of our listening area are being reminded to be on the lookout for wildlife crossing roadways.
OPP say they typically seeĀ an increase in collisions involving wildlife, especially deer, during the fall season and say most of those crashes happen between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Some tips to remember include scanning the roadway from side to side, looking for the shining eyes of deer, using high beams when no traffic is approaching, taking notice of signage where wildlife typically cross and to reduce your speed.
Police also say if you see one deer, you should slow down further, as they rarely travel alone.
