On Wednesday, don’t panic if you see a large number of emergency personnel along Trenton Frankford Road.
The City of Quinte West will be participating in their annual emergency exercise and this year, emergency personnel and Trans-Northern Pipelines employees will be testing emergency plans in the unlikely event of a petroleum pipeline failure.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says there are lots of moving pieces involved in this exercise.
He says the training will also involve the waterway and there will be a couple of smaller ’emergencies’ that will occur during the training exercise as well.
The exercise will begin around 8 a.m. and will wrap up by 2 p.m.
Residents can also expect greater than normal traffic.
People are asked to be patient and avoid the marked training area.
