Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.
Clerical workers, early childhood educators, custodians, and others will be on the job this morning (Monday)
at schools across the province.
The 55,000 members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees planned to go on strike today if a new contract
agreement didn’t materialize over the weekend and last evening Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced that a tentative
agreement was reached.
Contract details were not released.
This means all schools will be open and buses will be running as usual today. Dozens of school boards had said they would close the
schools today in the event of a strike.
