Quinte West’s Corporate Finance Committee is recommending council beef up efforts to have more people buying dog tags in the city.
The committee is recommending the city contract with an outside person or agency to sell the tags door-to-door with payment being in the form of a commission.
It also recommends new software be purchased that would allow residents to more easily renew dog tags and could also offer bonus gifts for those that do.
It’s also recommended the city use “no cost” social media to promote the sale of tags.
Currently it’s estimated only about 30% of dogs in Quinte West carry tags.
