An older wood frame house along the banks of the Trent River in Trenton that was at the centre of some controversy over the past couple of years will be demolished in the near future.
The City of Quinte West purchased the house and property at 315 Front Street with plans to take it down to complete a walking trail and greenbelt along the river.
However, the tenants at the time protested they could not find other suitable accommodation.
However, since that time they have been able to move out and the house stands vacant.
It will be demolished, along with the old Trenton fire hall, the old College Street School, and the Mount Pelion water tower, before the end of the year.
Cost of the work totals $743,000.
