The Conservative candidate for Hastings-Lennox and Addington took his turn on 800 CJBQ’s Meet The Candidates feature on the Lorne Brooker Show Tuesday.
With all of the political mud slinging happening at the national level on the federal election trail, it seems things have been a little bit more docile locally and Sloan shared that opinion, saying he tries to avoid that kind of campaigning and wants to focus on what’s important here at home.
When asked about some of the controversial views of party leader Andrew Scheer, when it comes to things like abortion and same sex marriage, Sloan says despite those beliefs the party has no plans to immediately make changes to those current policies.
Sloan was also asked about his party’s environmental strategies, given the criticism Scheer is facing on the national campaign trail, and says his party is the only one to pledge to make Canada self-sufficient on its own energy resources by 2030.
