After 3 days of training camp the Belleville Senators have made their first roster cuts. All defencemen. Trent Bourque, T.J. Melancon and Chris Martinet.
That brings the roster down to 29 but likely not for long. The Ottawa Senators are expected to re-assign players to Belleville when they return from Vancouver today.
B-Sens coach Troy Mann says there are many decisions still to be made following this weekend’s two pre season games in Laval (Montreal Canadiens) against the Rocket.
Mann says there has been a lot of focus on improving Belleville’s problem areas last season.
Belleville’s penalty kill was ranked last in the American Hockey League last season.
CJBQ will have both games from Laval Saturday and Sunday at 2:50.
The new AHL season opens one week from Saturday (Oct 6) in Toronto against the Marlies. The home opener is Friday October 11th at C.A.A. Arena vs. the Binghamton Devils.
