There has been another big step this month toward development of improved broadband services in Eastern Ontario.
Hastings County Council heard on Thursday that the Eastern Ontario Regional Network group has received the official letter approving the project on behalf of the province and the federal government.
CAO Jim Pine told Quinte News this is an important step.
Pine says staff is working on preparing requests for proposals so that Telecom and other companies can start the bidding process for the actual construction work on towers and fibre lines.
When questioned about any health concerns regarding 5G broadband service, Pine said a member of the public had raised the issue during a presentation in Northumberland county.
Pine indicated he has heard nothing from Health Canada on the issue.
