Quinte West OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal are investigating a suspicious blaze on Gunter Settlement Road, in North Murray, on Wednesday night.
Fire Chief John Whelan says his crews were called to an old farm house around 7:30 p.m. and spent close to three hours battling a blaze in a bedroom.
He says a woman in the home was treated at the scene but refused to go to the hospital for further treatment and that no other injuries were reported.
As far as a cause, Whelan says police and the fire marshal will be looking into that and the investigation is now under their control.
He did say that while the fire was contained to the bedroom, the house suffered significant damage totalling about $100,000 since firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to get to the flames.
We’ll have more detail as the story develops.
